Dear Merit Academy Family,
The Board of Trustees is pleased and excited to announce the promotion of Jacob Dalton to the role of our school director.
Mr. Dalton is well prepared to be our leader. He started his career in education as a social sciences teacher. He has a Master’s of Education in Instructional Leadership and is currently working on his Doctoral degree in Educational Technology.
Mr. Dalton first joined Merit Academy last February as our Director of Operations. He has worked closely with our staff and has developed a reputation for listening, being resourceful and wise, and having integrity.
We look forward to his leadership in developing our online program, promoting our culture of belonging, respect, and leadership, and supporting the incredible teachers and top quality programs that Merit is known for.

More About Mr. Dalton
Jacob Dalton holds a bachelor’s degree in Teaching Social Science from Brigham Young University, and later completed a master’s degree in instructional leadership from Utah State University. Mr. Dalton previously taught at a small private school where he gained valuable experience in online instruction and online course management.
Mr. Dalton has a unique educational background as he was homeschooled throughout elementary school and attended high school at a small private school in Utah county. He is a big supporter of personalized learning, and competency based learning. He is a fluent Spanish speaker, and loves to work with students from all backgrounds and abilities. Mr. Dalton resides in Payson, Utah with his wife Jenny and three children. He loves sports, the outdoors and anything related to history and politics.
